| It's Mother's Day eveing. What a weekend. I had my birthday yesterday and today was Mother's Day!! Yesterday Cheri and Ellis helped me get the flower pots planted and the areas mulched. It looks so much better around here. In the eveing, Shane met the rest of us and we all went out to dinner. The food was wonderful and the company was great. And, my family replaced my burned up coffee roaster!!! I roasted one batch and had better coffee this morning then I have had in a couple of weeks. It was great!!
My brother continues to slowly improve. Pray for increased appetite for him and improved strength. | | |
| My brother Dave, came home last night. He was quit tired from the ride home, but I don't know how his night went. He will be needing Home Health for a while to take care of his wound untill it heals up. Now it's catchup time for me around here. | | |
| Praise the Lord, my brother came through surgery very well today. He has 3 new plates in the left side of his face but they had to do less then the surgeon thought he might have to do. Thanks to all of you who have prayed even when you didn't know my brother or the story. We continue to be grateful that his abdomal wound has no infection and the slowest part of his recovery will be waiting for nature to heal his incsion from the inside out. There will be no more days off for me I must go back and work. The days get long for the family and we live about 50 miles from the hospital. | | |
| This week has been a long and a short week all in one. My youngest brother was badly hurt in a tree trimming accident last Sat at my parents home. He had organized a day for us kids and grand kids to come home and help Mom and Dad trim trees, plant flowers, ect. By 10:15 in the morning he had fallen and we were working to save his life. He was air lifted to a hospital in Wichita, arriving there within the hour of being hurt. I have spent more of my time at the hospital then else where this week, or so it seems. Tonight I am home early, relieved with his progress and feeling the freedom to return back to work next week. He is able to communicate well with us. His memory is returning and he seems to be healing. It is a continual concern that his lungs stay clear and the that he not get infection in his abdomen cavity. He will have his facial bones worked on next Tuesday if all goes as planned. The community people have been a great source of help and strength. Our extended family has grown to understand and care about each other in new ways. I marvel at how God prepares us in advance for these situations and how he cares so much for each of us in the middle of the pain. | | |
| Last eveing I was finishing up my day at the facility my father-in-law lives so I stopped and visited with him a bit. He gave me my laugh for the day. He told me that he had been thinking a lot and decided he needed to go outside for a while (it was a beautiful day for him to roll his w/c outside). Anyway, I asked him what he had been thinking about and he laughingly told me that he probably shouldn't tell me because I would try to stop his plans. I assured him that I would probably find out anyway and that he might as well tell me. He proceeded to tell me that he was going to try and get his electric w/c back. I told him I didn't think there was much hope in doing so. But that doesn't stop this 90 year-old man from dreaming!! He want on to tell me that he was thinking about going to church. "To church?, I said, "it's Friday not Sunday". He assured me that he was aware of the day and that he was planning that if he got his electric w/c back he could drive it to church. Now you must understand that this would be around a 7 mile trip. He also told me that he thought it would be so much fun if he showed up at church without Ellis or Ken knowing that he was coming!! I started laughing with him and then I said'" Grandpa you could get run over out there", to which he replied," just once". We laughed together and I told him he was right it would probably only happen once. I left laughing and he seemed happy to have something to plan for. | | |
